Air Fryer Cod: Best Easy 15-Minute Recipe

  • Author: brittany_hamilton
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and healthy weeknight dinner featuring golden, crispy panko-crusted cod fillets cooked in an air fryer. This recipe delivers restaurant-quality texture with minimal oil and zero splatter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 1.5 lbs Cod Fillets (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour (or gluten-free blend)
  • 2 Large Eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dried Parsley
  • Salt and Black Pepper to taste
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray (olive or avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Pat the cod fillets completely dry with paper towels and remove any pin bones. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko mixed with garlic powder, paprika, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each fillet into the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip into the egg wash, and finally press firmly into the panko mixture to coat evenly.
  5. Lightly spray the top of each breaded fillet with cooking spray.
  6. Arrange the fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap.
  7. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes. Halfway through (at 4 minutes), flip the fillets and spray the other side with oil.
  8. Cook until the coating is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). The fish should flake easily with a fork.
  9. Let the fish rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure the fish is thoroughly dried before breading to prevent the coating from sliding off. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure proper air circulation and crispiness. If using frozen cod, thaw completely in the fridge or cold water before cooking.
