Description
A creamy, tangy, and savory weeknight dinner that combines BBQ sauce and ranch dressing with juicy chicken and melted cheddar cheese for a comforting family meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 cup creamy ranch dressing
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Crushed Ritz crackers or breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Rinse and pat dry chicken breasts, then dice into 1-inch cubes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine diced chicken, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Toss until chicken is fully coated.
- Pour the chicken mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- If using, mix crushed crackers or breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow sauces to thicken.
Notes
Ensure chicken is fully thawed if using frozen. Use full-fat ranch dressing for best emulsion and flavor. If the top browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil for the last 10 minutes. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking.
