Description
A quick and easy 30-minute comfort food casserole featuring tender beef patties, rich onion gravy, and buttery egg noodles, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 packet onion soup mix (e.g., Lipton)
- 1 cup beef broth (low-sodium)
- 8 oz egg noodles (wide)
- 2 tbsp butter (unsalted)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Optional: Shredded cheddar cheese, chopped fresh parsley, steamed green beans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook egg noodles in salted boiling water until just before fully tender, then drain and toss with a little butter.
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up, then drain excess fat.
- In a saucepan, whisk onion soup mix and beef broth over medium heat until dissolved and simmering for 2 minutes. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and black pepper.
- Form the browned beef into 6-8 small, flat patties.
- Spread cooked noodles in the bottom of the baking dish, place patties on top, and pour gravy evenly over everything.
- Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10 minutes until bubbly. Add cheese in the last 5 minutes if desired.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Cook noodles slightly underdone as they will finish cooking in the oven. Ensure beef is well-browned for flavor. Taste gravy before baking to adjust saltiness. Can be frozen unbaked for up to 2 months.
